What happened to Tamla Horsford?

Tamla Horsford passed away in a friend’s house’s backyard, and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) looked into the incident.

Horsford, a resident of Cumming, Georgia, became intoxicated at the party and leaped off a balcony after everyone had gone to sleep.

Toxicology tests showed that she had marijuana and the anxiety medication Alprazolam in her system, and her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.

After the case was officially ruled an accident and closed, 11Alive Investigators were able to request the same records.

Additionally, Ralph Fernandez, Horsford’s husband’s attorney, released the complete independent autopsy performed by medical examiner Dr. Adel Shaker for the first time.

The shocking revelations from Tamla Horsford death

Fernandez firmly believes that Horsford’s death was a homicide but acknowledged the challenge of identifying the responsible party without the authority to conduct a proper investigation.

Discrepancies existed regarding the timeline, actions taken, and when they occurred. However, investigators concluded that whatever caused Horsford’s death occurred after 1:57 a.m.

This aligns with the back door to the upstairs porch opening and remaining open until her body was found.

Witnesses corroborate this timeline, stating that it aligns with the moment when the homeowner and remaining guests went to bed while Horsford stepped outside for a final cigarette.

However, Horsford’s family has raised questions about previous door alerts leading to the garage just minutes before this event, possibly indicating the presence of other individuals involved.

At 1:47 a.m., the front door chime was recorded, consistent with the last person to see Horsford alive, stating they walked together to the front door.

Her husband, who came to pick her up, insisted that his wife had arrived at the door alone, despite Horsford being said to have hugged her before shutting the door.

Horsford’s remains were inspected by Dr. Shaker, a forensic pathologist, who opposed the GBI’s conclusions and asserted that her dislocated wrist was a complicated fracture.

Furthermore, minimal blood at the scene and the blood on Horsford’s sleeve on the opposite side of her injury suggest the possibility of postmortem infliction.

The GBI’s report mentioned a fracture in Horsford’s spine, but Dr. Shaker contends it is not.

Moreover, the GBI did not find any significant injuries to the skull or bones, which led Dr. Shaker to suggest that Horsford’s cause of death was falling from a second-story building.

Tamla Horsford crime scene photos raise suspicions

The position of Horsford’s body seemed inconsistent with a fall from the balcony, and deputies at the scene commented on the way her body was positioned.

GBI only took five photos during the investigation, a significantly low number according to experts, and these photographs have yet to be made available for public scrutiny.

Concerns have also been raised about the racial dynamics involved, as Horsford was the only Black woman at the party.

The family believes that racial tensions in Forsyth County may have influenced how deputies viewed the scene.

Moreover, they accused the lead investigator, Michael Christian, of making derogatory racial remarks about Horsford.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI both closed the case despite complaints about the investigation’s objectivity from famous people and members of the public.

On the other hand, Horsford’s family thinks there may be more to the tale and hopes that someone with information on the incident will come forward.

Due to separate claims of misbehavior, the lead investigator lost his certification, and the homeowner’s boyfriend also lost his employment for improperly accessing case data.

The police are yet to charge anyone with Horsford’s death.
